Common Questions
Expert answers for High Desert homeowners.
❄️ Heating & Winter Safety
Do you offer 24/7 Emergency Heating Repair?
Yes. We prioritize "No-Heat" calls during the winter months. If your furnace quits and the temperature is dropping, text or call us at 541-243-6303. We serve Bend, Redmond, Tumalo, and Sunriver.
Why is my house so dusty? (The "High Desert" Problem)
Central Oregon has fine volcanic soil and high pollen counts. Standard 1-inch furnace filters often fail to trap this debris, leading to dust buildup on furniture and strain on your blower motor. We recommend installing a High-Capacity Media Filter Cabinet (Gold Series) to capture this dust before it circulates.
How do I prevent frozen pipes in Bend?
1. Disconnect Hoses: This is the #1 cause of bursts. Remove all garden hoses in October.
2. Open Cabinets: Let warm air reach the pipes under your sinks during cold snaps.
3. Winter Watch: If you are leaving town, hire us for a "Winter Watch" check to verify your thermostat is holding temp.
Heat Pump vs. Furnace: What works in Bend?
Older heat pumps struggle when temps drop below 30°F. However, our modern "Cold Climate" Inverter Heat Pumps (Gold/Platinum Series) work efficiently down to 5°F. For maximum safety, many Bend homeowners prefer a Dual Fuel System (Electric Heat Pump + Gas Furnace backup).
🛠️ Renovations & Handyman
Why do you recommend LVP Flooring over Hardwood?
The Bend Lifestyle is hard on wood. Between melting snow from ski boots, dry air causing planks to shrink, and dog claws, real wood requires constant maintenance here. Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) gives you the wood look but is 100% waterproof, scratch-resistant, and stable in our dry climate.
Do you service Vacation Rentals (Sunriver/Black Butte)?
Yes. We work with many absentee owners. We can perform seasonal maintenance, filter changes, and "pre-guest" checks to ensure the hot water and heat are working perfectly before your renters arrive.
Do you clean gutters?
Yes. Ponderosa Pine needles are acidic and heavy. If left in your gutters over winter, they create ice dams that can force water under your shingles. We recommend a full gutter clean-out in late Fall (Oct/Nov) once the needles have dropped.
Do you do Plumbing or Electrical?
To ensure quality and stay within our CCB license scope, we do NOT perform in-wall plumbing repairs, add new electrical circuits, or re-roof homes. We stick to what we are experts at: Systems (HVAC) and Surfaces (Flooring/Finish Work).
